Job description

Coolgradient is a fast-growing green-tech start-up with a clear vision to make our digital footprint more sustainable.

Why?

Every swipe, every like, every TikTok video we upload, every Zoom call we have, every Netflix video we watch, or everything we buy online is all processed and depends on… data centers. However, these data centers consume large amounts of energy due to the underlying technology we use every day all day.

How?

We have developed an AI-based analytics platform that captures the entire data center (DC) infrastructure - "from roof to room" - to bring the whole DC into a more optimal state. Saving energy and increasing reliability, resulting in a more sustainable data center in countries like Germany, France, Switzerland, UK, Ireland and The Netherlands.

We are looking for a skilled Software Engineer (front-end, back-end, integration) with a knack for Data and sustainability or energy technology to join our team.

What you’ll do

As a Software Engineer at Coolgradient, your primary responsibilities will revolve around the development and optimization of our software systems for data centers' cooling, power, and energy storage. Your role involves:

- Building and improving the web front-end and back-end systems.

- Building software that will power our intelligent models

- Utilizing a tech stack that includes SQL, Python, JavaScript, and Azure for software development.

You will have the unique opportunity to be a part of growing our software stack: choosing tooling, architecture and design, and growing your skills and knowledge along with us.

While the foundation of your work lies in software engineering, you'll have the flexibility to adapt and shape this position according to your unique skills, expertise, and vision for our growth.

Job requirements

We are seeking a Software Engineer with the following qualifications:

- Extensive experience in a mainstream programming language. Strong knowledge of Python is preferred.

- Understanding of software engineering principles and best practices including object-oriented design, design patterns, modularization, and clean code practices.
- Experience with Web Development and/or API Development

- Ability to analyze complex problems, identify bottlenecks, and propose innovative solutions in the context of optimizing data center energy usage.
- Eagerness to stay updated with the latest technologies, tools, and trends in software development, data analysis, and energy optimization to continuously enhance the system's capabilities.
